Psalm 121 is a “ Song of Ascents,” which is a collection of songs (Psalms 120-134) that Israelites would sing on their way to the annual sacrificial feasts at Jerusalem.Īs the travelers faced the challenges of the journey, they would look ahead to the hills, where Jerusalem was - where they would find the temple, the dwelling place of God. The hills look to be so far away right now. I lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The pain of loss is real and deep, and the Scriptures do not gloss over or minimize what mourners experience. The Bible does provide great comfort for those who are grieving. Perhaps more importantly, we want to show you how to use the Scriptures to provide genuine, meaningful comfort.
